Educational
materials based on this project were developed for
freshman-level "Signature Courses" at The University of
Texas at Austin. These courses are part of a general
education, core curriculum requirement. Every freshman
at The University of Texas at Austin (approximately 6700
students per year) takes a Signature Course, chosen from
among hundreds of different course offerings. Some
Signature Courses are large enrollment, lecture style
classes and others are small enrollment, seminar
courses. Modules based on this project were developed
for two large lecture format Signature Courses, titled
"Sustaining a Planet" and "Energy, Environment and
Society." Enrollments average 100-250 per year for each
of the two courses. A multi-lecture sequence on energy
was developed. The lectures address energy sources,
energy use, and the role of biofuels. The materials
include PowerPoint slides, and sample exam/discussion
questions. The materials are available at the link
