Wildfires constitute a large source of tropospheric aerosols. Remote sensing capabilities now make it possible to track the wildfire activity in a timely manner on a large scale in the TexAQSII region. Data products derived from measurements made by the MODIS instrument on board two orbiting satellites terra and aqua will be posted daily on this site thanks to the efforts of the University of Texas Center for Space Research. Knowledge of fire locations will allow the coordinators of the study to best allocate their resources to monitor aerosol activity.
